Had Unprotected Sex. HCG Test Showed Negative. History Of Pituitary Tumor. Not Had Periods. Concerned?
My wife ( who is 53 but not yet menopausal ) took an ipill about two hours after unprotectected sex and has not had her period for the last 7 weeks. Her blood test for hcg shows it is <1.2 so that is essentially negative. She also has a history of a pituitary tumour in her twenties which has been in remission for the last 25 years and her prolactin level is mildly elevated at 38. What could be the problem and what should we do
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The delay in periods that you have could be due to taking of the emergency contraceptive. A delay in periods is its common side effect. Since the pregnancy test is negative, there is no need to worry. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
