Had Vaginal Hysterectomy Including Cervix Removal, Had Blood Clot Removed. Sex Has Been Painful. Now On Estrogen Cream
I had a vaginal hysyerectomy including cervix removal. I had a large blood clot removed post op 5 weeks. Sex has been moderately painful since. At my annual gyn found very small bump which she said was slightly away from where cervix was removed. I am now on estrogen cream and will be reevaluated in 4 weeks. Is this normal treatment?
Hi, Thanks for the query. Yes, usually after total hysterectomy with bilateral removal of ovaries, there will be some amount of reduction in the hormonal levels. That can lead to dryness of vaginal mucosa. By applying the vaginal estrogen creams, normalcy of the vaginal tissue can be maintained. And pain during intercourse can be decreased. If the size of the bump increases, better to take biopsy to know the exact nature. If vaginal cream is found to be a cause for it, better to stop and go for oral hormone replacement therapy. That care.
