Had Vaginal Hysterectomy, Tired, Feel Everything Down, Vaginal Opening Not Found. Fixed Tight, Swollen Shut?
Hi, ten days ago I had total vaginal hysterectomy with anterior and posterior repairs. I am 68 and no trouble with menopause. Am feeling pretty good, bit tired. While taking shower I carefully felt around how things were down below. I cannot find the opening to my vagina....Is it just swollen shut.? Or is it fixed so tight on purpose? Or am I going to need more surgery to open it up again? Scar tissue? Now I am worried. We live very rural remote and my dr. is over 200 miles away.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vidya KR's Response
Hi, Thanks for using HCM. Depends on surgery. usually in hysterectomies they will remove upto cervix and leaving behind vagina intact. it depends on surgery and cause for removal of uterus. they will do moulding of vagina to maintain its shape. You can discuss with your doctor in your next fallow up visit.
Hope I answered your question. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries. Wish you good health. Take care.
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. I am sorry to say that , you have to consult the operating doctor as physical examination is very important in this case. This may be due to edema or infectious swelling . 10 days are not a long period so antibiotics may reduce swelling , if due to infection. Good luck. Dr. HET
