Hair Loss At The Back Side. Is It Tumor?

I am suffering from hair loss at the back ride side from the neck base up behind the ear. I had blood tests ran last week but I haven t heard back yet. There does not appear to be any redness, itching, or other problems with the scalp . I am concerned there may be a tumor or problem with the occipital gland area. Should I tell the doctor I would like to have a MRI done?

This band like pattern of hair fall is seen in alopecia area and is known as ophiasis. there is no need to be concerned about any underlying tumor and no MRI is required.
treatment is in the form of topical and systemic steroids along with minoxidil solution.
