Hand Pain, Swelling At Night

Hi Doctor, My mom is experiencing pains on her hands at night. When she experiences these pains she wakes up in the middle of the night, her hands are asleep still and gets the sensation that her hands are on fire like if she had dipped them in some hot salsa, they also appear swollen as well. When she goes into work in the morning, the pain goes away. After she finishes up with her shift, 3 hours later. The pain comes back, but don t get swollen only when she wakes up again in the middle of the night and they re swollen with pain again.
