Hard Bump On Lower Leg, Its Red/purple And Doesn T Hurts When Touched. What Would It Be?

my 9 month old has a hard red bump on his lower leg, below the knee but above his ankle on his shin. it is red/purple and doesn't seem to hurt him when i touch it. I don't think it is getting any bigger but it is defiantly not getting smaller or going away. my dr seems to think it's a hardened blood vessel or vein but i am still concerned.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi
I can understand the concern you have. These are called hemangiomas. Typically they tend to regress by the age of 7. Interventions are only needed in this scenario(no pain and developmentally not troublesome) after the age of 7 when it doesn't go away. So till that time you need not need to worry much.
Wish you good luck. Please don't hesitate to ask any further questions.
Thanking you
Dr Samir
