Hard Toe Nail, Separated From Toe. Difficulty To Cut, Causing Pain In Toe. Suggest

I have a toe nail that has partly separated from the skin (big toe). The nail is very hard and consequently hard to cut and because a portion of the nail separated from the skin, I have to cut it at an angle. It makes that part of my toe quite painful. I'm not sure what to do about it. Can you suggest something. Thank you!

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Seperated toe nails is hard to get attached again.
It is best to remove them surgically.
A new nail will slowly grow under it.

If it remains attached it will lead to infection underneath.
Let me know if you have any other doubt.
