Dear user, SGPT level indicates about the health of the liver cells. Its normal value is less than 45 IU/L. SGPT level of 117 is sifnificantly increased and your husband must be evaluated for it. Alcoholism is one of the important cause for increased SGPT. other causes include fatty liver due obesity, viral infection and some drugs. Further the values suggest that he is at increased risk of developing many diseases like heart attack, diabetes etc. you should consult your doctor. He will thoroughly investigate him and will start on treatment for the cause of raised SGPT and reducing risk of developing various diseases.. He will also advise about balanced diet, reducing weight, lipid lowering drugs. hope have answered the querry satisfactorily.
