Has Pneumonia, Due For Surgery For Mass On Lung. Chest X-ray Clear. Confused ?

My Father has pneumonia, he was diagnosed 2 weeks ago. He was d/c'ed from the Hosp. He is now readmitted x 7 days as is scheduled for surgery tomorrow for a "mass " on his lung ??? The CXR was "almost" clear when he went home. Well now not so much since he is having surgery Bronchoscopy and ??Thoracotomy?? The Doc's told my sister that this is from the antibiotic they gave him??? I am so CONFUSED.......

As you said here that the X-ray chest is clear then for kind of mass the surgery is due ? you need to ask your doctor in detail and clear your doubts, here also you have not described any thing in very clear way, it is some what irrelevant, i could only learnt that,,, there must be a antibioma developed due to anti biotic treatment given for pneumonia and now they are going to remove it surgically, this is just what a sens came out of your description, this could be a wrong, have nice day
