Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
Urinary tract infections are very common among women of which it mostly cystits (bladder infection). In normal and healthy states, the urinary tract is free of infection. Infection is brought in with bacterial invasion, mostly enteric
coliform bacteria (E.coli) that are present in the vaginal region and may spread to the bladder via the urethra. Uncomplicated UTI involves the
urinary bladder without any other causes as any pathological kidney disease. Sexually active females who are otherwise healthy may have
frequent UTI. However, that itself on its own may not be true, since not everyone has it. Few may be prone to urinary affections as is their tendency. Urine flows unidirectionally that is above downward only and any reason to cause a change may allow infection to spread up into the bladder. Hence, restrained or incomplete urination, sexual intercourse, urinary tract obstruction, instrumentation, use of catheters, and
vesicoureteral reflux may be influential.
Since, only few will have recurrent infections despite taking a complete course of antibiotics, a individualized treatment would be more effective in clearing up the tendency, improving resistance, treating other extrinsic causes and thereby preventing further attacks.
Homeopathy has given remarkable results in chronic tendencies, diabetic UTI, UTI with
vaginitis, etc. But all this would yield best results when given as per customized symptoms.
Patent medicines (as available as OTC) are generalized medicines and may be helpful only to an extent. When one has stopped benefiting of it, it signals need of the next potency or increased dose. A consultation with a qualified homeopath is advised.
