Have A Dent On Head, Tender. What Could Have Caused It?

Hi I have always worn a ponytail pretty much my whole life, I have an indent in the center if my head going straight down the middle. Funny thing us if I wear my hair out the indent seems to go away to a point where you could feel the difference in depth. When I wear my ponytail it feels a lot and it's a little tender. Do you have any idea what could cause that?

Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.

Looking at the long duration of the dent, it could most likely be congenital, present since birth. Other possibility could be a trivial head injury, which could have resulted in the dent.

There is usually no need to worry abut this, however, if you develop pain, or other symptoms, such as giddiness, vomiting, etc, you may get a CT scan of the head done for more clarification of the diagnosis.

I hope it helps. Please get back if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
