Have A Lump On The Stomach. Advised For A Scan. No Medication Till Now. What To Do?
Hi I have a small pea size lump, maybe more than one in my stomache right side mid to lower area. Seems like its close to the surface at times but then seems like it can be deep , it's harder to find it when laying down but much easier standing and as just become slightly tender. Had scan the couldn't find anything about a year ago and the suggested it was muscle I was not convinced so few days ago went back and doc felt the pea like lump and referred me for another scan ... I am really worried . Any ideas !
Hello, Thanks for posting your query to HCM. Kindly first of all relax and reassure yourself. After reading your query I can make out two possible diagnosis: 1.Lipoma: This is due to deposition of extra fat at a particular site forming a bump like structure. 2. Sebaceous cyst: It is cyst formed due to collection of cheesy material inside it. Both these conditions are simple and easy to get rid of by simple excision (taking out the material surgically). As your bump is just pea sized so even if there is any other possibility then also there is nothing to be worried about it.
If the swelling increase or becomes more painful then can meet a surgeon who can guide you best for the simple thing. Hope to have provided the best information regarding your problem Dr Sanjay K Kanodia MD (Dermatology)
