Have Abscess In Gums, Discharge, Painful. Have Mitral Valve Regurgitation. Worried

I have dr apt tomorrow but am worried. I have an abscess on my gums which I am draining with pressure and one on my breast nipple which I am also able to drain a couple times a day. They are both painful but much better now that I can releave some of the pressure. What I am worried about is why they would come up at the same time within a day. Also I have mitral valve regurgitation so I worry about any infections in my mouth. Should I be ok till tomorrow or consider going to the er? no fever

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Abscess in gums may be arised due to deep caries or periodontitis.

I would advice you to get the abscess drained and curetted.

Infected pulp ,has to be extirpated.

Maintain oral hygiene well.

Take metronidazole along with analgesics.

Regarding other concerns, please do visit a general physician.

Take care.

hello and welcome to HCM forum,
I would like to inform you that a tooth abscess spreads infection to the surrounding tissues, even to the lymph nodes. You do not have pain as the abscess is draining , but it is important yo see a dentist to avoid infection from spreading.
In medical conditions like mitral regurgitation, it is necessary to be under antibiotics to avoid tooth infections from spreading to the heart valves.therefore, kindly see your dentist soon.

i hope this answer was useful,
thanks for writing to us,
i wish you good health,
take care.

hi...
thanks for the query...
well, there is an indirect association between heart diseases and gum infections...
patients with heart problems have higher chances to develop gum infections as compared to other ones...
also focal infections (gum or breast infections), are source of microorganisms and immune and inflammatory products which can indirectly affect heart valves...
so... get both the abscesses treated by specialists under proper antibiotic coverage....
and maintain good oral hygiene afterwards...
hope it will help you...
take care...

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

According to your symptoms i suspect that you might have infection of the gums known as gingivitis and periodontitis. Also you have mitral valve regurgitation, i would suggest you to visit the Dentist and get complete mouth scaling polishing and curettage done as soon as possible.Apply metrogyl oral ointment topically over the affected area.
Take complete course of antibiotics and analgesics under prescription of your Dentist.
Take lukewarm saline and antiseptic mouthwash rinses.
Maintain a good oral hygiene.

Hope this helps out.

Hello and welcome.

Any infection in the mouth should be treated well especially,in patient with cardiac problems.

Please visit your dentist soon and get it clinically evaluated.Abscess in the mouth could be due to decayed teeth or gum problem.

In either cases it can be well managed after radio graphic diagnosis and clinical evaluation.

Therefore please see your dentist soon ,also it requires a course of antibiotics and analgesics.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.
