Have Been Diagnosed With Squamous Cell Breast Cancer And Was Treated. Can Squamous Cell Breast Cancer Be Carried By Bloodstream?
Two years ago I was diagnosed with squamous cell breast cancer. I had a full mastectomy (including my nipple) - it had not spread to any lymph nodes and I received 6 FEC chemotherapy treatments. I now have yearly mammograms for my remaining breast and the last one taken 3 weeks ago has come back clear. My question - is it true that squamous cell breast cancer can be carried by the bloodstream and should I be seeking other scans?
Hi, Squamous cell carcinoma is rarely found in breast. So specific guideline regarding its management is still lacking. Most of the time the management protocol are same as that of ductal carcinoma. Anyway, breast cancer can spread distally by lymphatics mainly and also by blood. The chemotherapy you have received would take care of it.Nothing to be worried about. Follow your oncologists' advise regarding the follow up schedules.
