hello and welcome to HCM!
I have read the question and from my clinical experience I can say that
Wellbutrin is not working at all in case of your son. so, I would strongly advice that you should meet a
psychiatrist and ask him if he can change to something better for him.
Had I been treating him, I would have given for something like :
paroxetine,
sertraline or desvenlafxine or
Venlafaxine. More so, as dosegae of Wellbutrin should not be increased anymore ( can put a risk of seizures).
He is doing all this because of the chemical disturbance, he cannot help himself....he is not doing all these things deliberately. I know it is distressing to give reassurance all time, but with treatment- in few day he should be feeling relaxed. till then donot argue with him, just be little more patient.
I also think that you must go for some routine
blood test in the beginning itself-
lipid Profile, kidney function test, thyroid levels. He might be needing some medicine to sleep comfortably for initial few days.
He will certainly show improvement with better drug.
Please do not panic, he can be very much helped.
Hope the reply is useful
