Good day!

First and foremost how old are you? Is it gross blood in the urine or microscopic blood in the urine? Blood in the urine also called hematuria is caused by alot of conditions. Depending on the age of the patient we can more or less eliminate some of the other conditions. The most dreaded cause of hematuria is cancer and must be ruled out immediately by use of imaging modalities (ultrasound or ctscan) and with urine cytology (looking for cancer cells in the urine with the use of microscope). Other causes and more common is infection, any inflammation in tne urinary tract, flu, upper respiratory tract infection and strenuous exercise can also cause blood in the urine.

I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications at: http://www.HealthcareMagic.com/doctors/dr-manuel-c-see-iv/66014 I would gladly help you. Best wishes.
