Have Bulky Uterus. Frequent Periods, Pain. Have High Blood Pressure. Would Mirena Coil Help?
Hi i am a 45 years old and have been diagnosed with a bulky uterus . last year i had 17 periods most of which lasted 5- 7 days. this year so far i have two already and feel i have constant period pain. My periods are very heavy so much so i feel i need to stay in the house. I have tried the pill before but it affects my moods. i also have high blood pressure so wouold be reluctant to take the pill again. would the mirena coil help or would it be better to have a hysterectomy?
Before trying conservative treatment like mirena, get a TVS for endometrial thickness.
If thickness is more than 4 mm, Get a hysteroscopic directed biopsy to rule out endometrial hyperplasia.
If everything is normal, then Mirena is treatment of choice.
Otherwise go for hysterectomy since you are 45 years old with completed family.

Dr Nilofer
