Hi and thanks for the query, Shortness of breath is a common symptoms especially in lung and heart disease. A clear family history is however an important consideration in its evaluation. Any family history of asthma or heart disease is important to be noted. I actually suggest you do a chest X ray, a complete blood count in search of raised Eosinophils which could guide towards the allergic component and a cardiac ultrasound might put lots of things into perspective. Other organs lesions like acute gastritis and gastroesophagal reflux disease could have similar presentations.
