Have Chiari Malformation And Syringomyelia. Suffering From Chest Pain, Arm And Back Pain, Headache, Dizziness, Vision Changes. Heart Attack?

I would like to know what a heart attack sounds like? I have Chiari Malformation and syringomyelia . So I have chest pain , arm pain, back pain, dizziness, headaches, vision changes, etc all the time. So, I can t rush off to the ER every time these things happen. So is there a sure way to tell other than going to the hopsital every time I have the typcial symptomes?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hi, Thanks for writing. I am a qualified and certified cardiologist. I read your question with diligence. You are right you can not rush to ER every times you get symptoms you described but if there is change in character of chest pain : it is more squeezing, retro sternal mid line pain going to neck and left arm and ASSOCIATED with rapid heart rate and respiration, shortness of breath plus additional features like Sweating or vomiting epigastric pain should make you seek help of a doctor for doing blood studies and EKG. Other feature are not usually features of heart pain. Most important is associated shortness of breath which you normally experience after heavy exercise is to be remembered. Good Luck.

With best wishes.
