Have Copper Coil Fitted. Period Is Late. Have Cramps. HPT Negative. Ectopic Pregnancy?

Hi, ive had the copper coil fitted for 18 months, I had a scan last year that confirmed the coil was in the right place and am normally regular with my periods however this month I am 8 days late I've been having mild cramping but no sign if a period, I took a HPT 2 days ago and it was neg. I am worried about an ectopic pregnancy. Please csn you advice me. Debbie

Hello,

You're on IUD(copper T) for one and half years.
Of late your period is delayed and you're having abdominal cramps.
Your pregnancy test is negative.
Firstly the reasons for your delayed period and abdominal cramps may be infection.
there is increased risk of infection for IUDs.
Pregnancy test is negative so repeat after a week.
Go for Serum HCG levels and ultrasound to rule out Ectopic pregnancy.
