Thanks for consulting H.C.M. for your medical query.
I have gone through your query regarding cough, as you said that you have given up smoking is really a positive thought for health. Smoking disturbs the respiratory system by direct and indirect way i.e. by giving rise to some diseases of lungs and larynx.
To manage your problem you are advice for these investigations-
(1) X- Ray chest in P.A.view.
(2) Culture and sensitivity of throat swab.
(3) X- Ray paranasal sinuses.
(4) Blood- CBC, ESR, blood sugar F & P.P.
(5) Direct Laryngoscopy.
After this tharough examination of respiratory system and their co-relation with inferences of above investigations will help us to reach to correct diagnosis for your cough which than accordingly be manage.
With Regards.
