Have Cough With Blood, Am Pregnant, Bleeding In Lungs. Cause?

Hello Doc, I have cough with blood this past few days. I m 4 months pregnant, so that I consult my OB Gyne. She recommend me have chest x-ray with protected shield for my tummy. The result of my chest x-ray is Pneumonia on the right upper lobe. My question is what is the caused of bleeding in my lungs? Is there any cure or any surgery to suggest to remove the mucus or phlegm in my lungs?

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
Pneumonia is a bacterial infection of lung parenchyma. This disease is treated by complete antibiotic course and production of sputum is also due to pneumonia. Treatment of pneumonia also resolves sputum production.
Bleeding in cough is also due to pneumonia.
As such no surgery is available for pneumonia.
You should consult with physician and should take antibiotics safe in pregnancy.
Thanks,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
