Have Degenerative Bone And Joint Disease With Severe Back And Neck Pain. How To Manage This Disease?
Hi, I am a 32 yr old Female with a 2 month old newborn. I have been suffering from back and neck pain for over five years. My original diagnosis was sciatic nerve problems and tension in my neck from stress. My new primary sent me to a pain specialist who did not clarify results of MRI. The test was done on my lower back which is where the most pain is (tender even to the skin). I have Degenerative Bone Disease and Degenerative Joint Disease as well as the bulging disk in the lumbar region and on in the sacrial region. Compression is mild at this point but pain is severe. I have been informed that if not taken care of there is the risk of fracturing my back because of the lack of cartilage and bone rubbing against bone. My inflammation levels were really high until my primary put me on Celebrex 200mg twice a day and they have lowered greatly. There is a mention of some sort of "sac" that I am completely unaware of? What can I do to prevent this from getting worse, I am really concerned since I do have a newborn and it is hard to take care of her as it is with the pain. I have also been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.
As you are in the younger age group, the treatment choices are first b medications and then if its getting severe, small surgical procedures might need to be done.
Along with medications, you must also take suggestions from a physiotherapist regarding exercises to be done and avoid any activities which could potentially increase your pain or worsen the condition.
Surgical options nowadays include laser disk surgery and the results are very good. However, surgery is done only when the medications are not giving good results and patient continues to have severe pain.
Hope this helps
