Have Diabetes, MS, High Cholesterol. Red Rash With Pustula In Armpit, Painful. Shingles?
My sister in law, 65, diabetic, MS and high cholesterol has suddenly developed a spolchy red rash with pustula's. This has appeared under her left arm pit and has a second patch on he shoulder blade on the same sign. She says it is very painful. I do not see any flued at this time. Could this be shingles? If so, what are the steps to take? Thank you
Hi, thanks for writing to us. From the description provided it could be shingles or blister beetle dermatitis. You need to consult a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis. Shingles would require oral antiviral, oral antibiotic painkiller etc whilr beetle dermatitis would require painkiller and topical antibiotic cream. If its shingles medicine should be started early ie with in 72 hours for better response. Hope that answered your query. Take care
