Have Dizziness, Abdominal Pain, Nausea And Diarrhea. Diagnosed With Hypothyroidism. Taking Levothyroxine. Symptoms Of?
I was just diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I started taking levothyroxine yesterday. Today I ate my breakfast an hour after taking the medicine. About 20 minutes after eating I had dizziness, abdominal cramps, nausea and diarrhea. Is this normal after beginning levothyroxine and is there anything that can be done about these symptoms?
These side effects have been reported in a minority of patients on levothyroxine, although it is the best medication in most hypothyroid patients.
I would advise you to revisit your treating doctor and either change the dosage to a milder form which would reduce the side effects or replace the medicine with another one altogether. I am sure you will be fine after.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
