Have Edemna In The Foot. Advised To Have Venous Doppler. Have Visible Pitted Skin When Pressed. Should It Be Removed?
my cardiologist wants me to have a venous doppler of my lower extremities because of edemna especially in my ight foot area which is visual and pitted when you press the skin. All my other doppler , ekg & stress test came back ok. If the edema is caused by a lower extremity vein blockage, what would the next step usually be to remove this edema causing blockage ? Thank you for posting your query on Healthcaremagic,
As you have said that your cardiac doppler, ECG and stress test are normal even though you are having foot edema. This suggests a local cause for edema like clot or blockage in vein, inflammation of veins or poor functioning of venous valves (venous insufficiency). These all can be ruled out by doppler. So, I strongly suggest you to have doppler carried out to find out actual cause for your foot edema.
Once the cause is found, management can be carried out accordingly like embolectomy or venous bypass for clot or blockage in vein, anti-inflammatory or immuno-suppressants drugs for inflammation of veins or valve micro-repair for poor functioning of venous valves (venous insufficiency).
Note: I am assuming that other causes of edema of foot are already ruled out like worm infestation (filariasis), autoimmune diseases, liver or kidney insufficiency etc.
Hope this will help you.
