Have End Close To Anus, Difficulty Passing Bowels. Advised Surgery. Other Treatment?
Hi A friend of mine has got a wound at the end part of his bowel very close to anus. He is Iranian and back in Iran the doctors say the wound should be taken off by surgery and so He cannot go toilet as usual and a bag should be used every time he needs to get rid of the solid waste of the body. I wonder if there is any other treatment rather than surgery which does not affect his normal life.
Wound around anus is a very serious condition. It is because in the anus there is a lot of bacteria which constantly contaminate this wound so it can never get healed. And keep the wound clean and separated from the stool is a hard work. And such simple wound can cause sepsis and death.
That is why it is very important to make everything what is possible to separate the stool from this wound. To do that, surgery might be the best and only way. Temporal colostomy is what the doctors were talking about.
There is also a possibility that something like Flexi-Seal fecal management system might be helpful, so your friend may try it first before deciding for the surgery.
Hope this will help.
Regards.
