Have Excess Mucus In Back Of Throat. Tried Dynista. Root Cause?

Hello! I hope you can help! I've been dealing w/excess mucus in the back of my throat for over 18 months now. It came on all at once - at age 52. I don't smoke, drink, or use drugs/meds. I'm 5'8" & weigh 145 lbs, & exercise regularly. My ENT has me trying "Dynista," but it is NOT working to clear away the giant glob of mucus! I can neither swallow it (won't go down), nor cough it up. It is esp. bothersome when eating. (I can actually secrete 1 -2 T of it while eating! GROSS!) That's the only time I'm able to spit some of it up. What has caused this, & what can I do to get rid of it? I'd like to know the root cause, as well as treatment plan, if possible.

Thank you!
