Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am female 5 10 and 200 lbs. Experienced EXTREME cold for 6 hours. BP normal, HR 106, Temp 97. Nausea. Ate something, felt a little better but 20 minutes later extreme cold like waves washing over me. I piled on the blankets and went to bed. No fever, temp still normal but occasional wave like chills coming over me.
You have already done well by warming yourself adequately. There are a few other things that may also help. Please take lots of warm fluids. This will help control the chills. Taking paracetamol (Tylenol) will also help. Examine all the areas of the body that were directly exposed to cold and see if there is any change in color or loss of feeling. If there is loss of feeling and if the change in color is still persisting in spite of being in warmth, then you should consult a doctor. If the skin is just dry and peeling, then applying moisturizers frequently will suffice.
Best wishes.
