Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Have Extreme Depression. Not Suicidal Or Homicidal. What Can Help Me?
Instead of going into a regular psychiatric facility for extreme depression (I used to work in that field for 10+ years), is there a alternative Christian facility that can still prescribe medication but have the spiritual element? I'm not suicidal or homicidal because of my faith and my children, but I am in need of help. I live in Granbury, Texas.
Well, we have to first distinguish between depression and distress. Are you able to define and diagnose depression? Even experienced psychiatrists can't diagnose it properly. To make it simple, there are several tests available to measure the depth and type of depression, if it really is depression.
In your case, I think it is just a distress which is very much normal for everyone. Stress and obstacles in life creates stress disorder which then converts itself into distress. Some lasts for days and some for months. Let it get itself cover its course.
Otherwise, there is no alternative treatment avilable for mental problems. You must consult a psychiatrist.
Wish you speedy recovery.
