Have Extreme Pain, Frontal Sinus Whenever I Fly. Upon Landing It Subsides. Feeling Uncomfortable. Can I Do Sudafed?
Extreme Forehead pain when flying. After doing some research I found that it is most likely a frontal sinus issue? Whenever I fly I get an EXTREME pain above my eyes so bad that I cannot do anything. THe pain slightly subsides upon landing but I still notice a slight pain even after my flights and it lasts for a few days. It is extremely uncomfortable. Should I do sudafed before flying? Any other options??
The symptoms you describe looks similar to aerosinusitis. The pressure changes causes immense pain during descent and subsides over a period of time.
Usually there may be existing inflammatory condition of nasal / sinus cavity that precipitates the pain. I want you to exclude any preexisting conditions and treat them. If none or found, good pain killers such as ibuprofen and decongestants such as sudafed can be helpful.
The other options are surgical - sinus surgery such as function endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) can be an useful choice.
Wish you good health!!!
