Have Fibromyalgia. Blood Work Shows High RDW. Family History Of Lupus. Reason For Blood Work Result?

I was recently diagnosed with firomyalgia. well Thursday my bloodwork came back high rdw can t remember the level and 5.8 c reactive protein . my doctor said he believes I have vasculitis and put me on steroids. I tested negative for RA and lupus . which lupus does run in my family. I just don t understand what would cause my blood work to come back like this.

Thanks for posting your query.
Higher RDW means large variations in Reed blood cells size which may be due to liver disease, hemolytic anemia or deficiency of Vitamin B12 and folic acid. As far as C-reactive protein is concerned it is a protein which is released in higher amount when you are having any infection, inflammation or any autoimmune disease but your C-reactive proteins are within normal ranges.
You should get other tests like LFT, hemoglobin electrophoresis and MRI/CT scan.
