thank you.migraine is a clinical diagnosis.only tests is needed to exclude other causes.you can take naxdom during attack.but if it is frequent then prophylactic propranolol(80-160mg daily),amitriptyline(10-50mg at night daily),sodium valproate or topiramate can be given.

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Mayank Bhargava's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
There is high possibility of migraine as the symptoms suggest and migraine is the most common type of headache.
Your wife has to take anti emetics such as metoclopramide, otherwise whatever medication will be taken for relief of headache works partially.
You should again consult with internal medicine specialist / neurologist and should go for thorough check up.
She has to take prophylactic medication for future prevention of migrainous attacks.
As such no permanent cure is available for migraine.
Take care,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
