Hello, thanks for using health care magic.
Hernia occurs when parts of the body push through a point of weakness there by moving out of their normal locations. Obesity and straining too much are predisposing factors.
The definitive treatment of hernia is surgery,
though surgery may be delayed in cases where the hernia is small, painless and easily reducible. However, the dreaded complication of hernia is strangulation in which abdominal content may become trapped in the hernia there by strangulating and causing severe pains and necrosis of the abdominal content. Most surgeons believe that surgery is the better option since strangulation is not predictable.
Vomitting and severe pains are common symptoms due to strangulation but the vomiting you have is definitely not due to strangulation but to peptic irritation of gastric mucosa as you try to loose weight.
What you need to do as you are awaiting your appointment is to avoid straining, avoid getting constipated and watch out for signs of strangulation which will require immediate surgical attention.
Best regards and hope this helps you.
