Have High Blood Pressure. Taking Anti-depressant And Diuretic Pill. Suggestions?

Hi I am 23 years old and I have just been told that I have high blood pressure. I don't eat a lot of salt and I exercise 5 days a week it doesn't run in my family either. I have been taking an anti depressant which my doctor says that isn't the cause. She put me on an diuretic pill that have been taking for a month now. She has checked my thyroid levels but the more I read about thyroid I feel like it all fits into hypothyroidism. I don't know if I should go see an endocrinologist or just take it as my doctor says that there is nothing wrong with me

hello
As you have said that you are 23 year old with newly diagnosed bp and taking anti depressants

Following are your diagnosis as you are young

1.hypothyroidism causing depression and rise in blood pressure(hashimoto thyroiditis is famous one)
2. most of the anti depressants do cause high bp
3.other causes are .....cushing, heart problems

Donot take diuretics at all, and get tested(tsh, blood complete picture and so on) for above diseases as diuretics will cause weakness and is for old patients

Kindly consult another doctor

Need more information to diagnose you

Hope this helps

Take care
