Have Hypertension, Taking Atenolol And Amolodipine. But BP Remains High. How To Treat?

Hi, I am Dr Cecil a medical officer ,have an HTN pt on regular medication on atenolol 50mg and amolodipine 10mg od since two months but indl BP remains 180/110. How should I goabout to treat his high no. Pl advice

Is the patient compliant with medications? IF his heart rate is greater than 60 and he is not having any side effects from the atenolol, the atenolol may be increased. The two medications that you have chosen both work similarly. Perhaps a medication from a different class should be added once you max his atenolol. A diuretic like HCTZ (hydrocholorthiazide) or an ACE inhibitor like lisinopril would also be helpful.
