Have Irregular Periods. Now Have Very Heavy Periods On 19th Day. Is This A Serious Issue For Which A Doctor Should Be Consulted?
Hi I am 47 and have never had children. i have had a pretty good regular menstral cycle for most of my life but in the last 6 months they are becoming irregular. As of right now I am on day 19 of a heavy period but have no cramping as I have been lucky to never have had cramps. I seem to get very emotional around this time though. How long should I go before going to the dr?
Menstrual irregularities is quite common after 45 years of age due to perimenopausal changes. That being said, heavy bleeding that continues to 19th days needs medical attention.
I urge you to visit your gynecologist at the earliest. He/she can prescribe drugs to stop the bleed while evaluating the cause. Ultrasonogram of abdomen and pelvis is one such useful investigation that will be needed. Consider visiting your doctor at the earliest.
