Have Itching From Head To Toe. Have Papillary CA, Total Thyroidectomy And RAI-131. What Could Be The Reason?
Hi, i am lucy nadera from the Philippines. I was diagnosed last year with papillary CA, thus had total thyroidectomy in april 2012 and RAI-131 in may 2012 also. I am on euthyrox 150. I am experiencing episodes of severe itchy skin starting from my head down to my extremeties and vice-versa. I have no history of allergies. Is it possible that i am allergic to the thyroid meds i am taking? I am also on calcium plus vit d and metformin. Please help.
It is possible that you are allergic to one of your medications, it is also possible to have an allergic response to food or substances in the environment.
Itchy rash may sometimes be related to other causes such as infection (scabies), liver or kidney disease, high levels of thyroid hormone, emotional stress, some blood disorders.
You may want to consider visiting your doctor for an assessment which may include (1) history and examination the rash, (2) allergy testing which can be a blood test or skin testing, (3) blood tests to check the kidneys , liver and thyroid levels.
I hope this helps
