Hi,

You have rightly noted that many websites show the information that kidney infection can cause false positive urine tests for cocaine. However, this has no scientific basis. Urine drug screens used to evaluate cocaine ingestion assess the presence or absence of cocaine’s main metabolite benzoylecgonine. Cross-reactivity between this screenand substances other than cocaine are nearly nonexistent. Urine screens for cocaine are very accurate in detecting recent cocaine ingestion. However, certain conditions like consumption of tea and other natural products created with coca plant leaves can produce positive cocaine screen results. Foodstuffs obtained through the internet and other sources may be adulterated and can produce a positive result. In addition, children passively exposed to cocaine smoke in heavily contaminated environments can have
positive cocaine screen results but the same has not been seen in adults passively exposed to cocaine smoke.

Please assess if some of these may have been applicable to you. Please also ask your doctor to repeat your test to ensure that any mishandling of the specimen may not have caused this.

Hope this helps you. Best wishes.
