Have Large And Purple Vein Inside Tongue, Swells Randomly. Reason?
Hi, my name is Sandra and I am 20 years old. Last night I couldn t sleep because I have a large, purple vein on the right side of my tongue . It s usually small, but it swells up randomly. I ve been observing it and I believe it swells when I eat very spicy foods. I want to know why I have this vein on the side of my tongue. Thanks.

i would be glad to inform you that a tongue has numerous veins on its inner surface and if in case there is some kind of selling/lump, then that needs to be checked clinically by your dentist.
you have not mentioned whether you have pain or not, or even infection.
swollen veins are associated with a number of factors; infections, salivary gland stones, stress, etc.
i would recommend you to visit your dentist soon.

i read your problem,you did not mention whether do you have pain or not.there are so many reasons for this sort of swelling like trauma,salivary gland duct stone,etc.
but nothin can be said clearly without clinical examination so i will suggest you please go to your dentist as soon as possible and go for complete examination done and please follow all the given instructions properly. nothing to get worried.take care

swelling of this on eating spicy food can be due to blockage or obstruction of the salivary duct on that side.
this can be ruled out by clinical check up and an sailography to visualise the duct can give definitive diagnosis.
so better to consult your dentist for pinion.
