Have Pain In Ear When Swallowing. Roof Of Mouth Is Sore And Painful. Reason?
I ve had an earache the past few days. I don t think it s an ear infection since there hasn t been and fluid or discharge from the sore ear. The earache followed cold-like symptoms. The last day or so I ve started getting a shooting pain to my ear whenever I swallow . Also, the roof of my mouth on the side of the sore ear is extremely sensitive and painful. Any idea what these symptoms point towards?

Earache was due to referred pain secondary to active throat infection. The pain usually aggravates while swollowing. Pain in the roof of the mouth on the affected side is due to active infection spreading to nasopharynx. Take Tab.Azithromycin 500mg two times a day for 5 days along with a combination of Tab. Aceclofenac 200mg & Tab Paracetamol 500mg two times a day for 5 days. All three drugs are to be taken after meals. Tab. Rabeprazole 20mg two times a day, 1 hour before meals for 5 days will prevent gastritis induced by these drugs. Warm saline gargling & steam inhalation will also help.
