Have Paraovarian Cyst. Normal PAP Smear. Irregular Periods. Spotting For Prolonged Period
Hi. I m 48 years old and was diagnosed withparaovarian cyst 10 .7 mm. I get regular pap smears and the results were normal. For the past 2 years i have been having irregular periods. I have also noticed that my menstruation lasts more than a week. This month it.s almost 2 weeks now, though it s not heavy anymore i still have streaks of blood .
Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Paraovarian cyst is a cyst adjacent to the uterus. It do not interferes with the menstrual cycle and do not cause any menstrual problems. Irregular and prolonged periods can be due to hormonal disturbances like hypothyroidism or due to dysfunctional uterine bleeding which are changes in the endometrium due to perimenopausal changes. I would suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist and get an endometrial biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. Hope you found the answer helpful. Regards Dr Deepti Verma
