Have Persistent Hacking Cough. Shortness In Breath And Irritation Swallowing. Ideas?

I am a 52 yr old male. smoked for 36 years. i have developed a persistant hacking cough. it has gone on for approx 6 weeks. i do not have a cold. I am not coughing up blood. i do have some shortness of breath. No lumps in my throat, but slight irratation when swallowing, the sort of irratation when you DO have a cold.

Any ideas ?

these are allergies may be due to smoke the sinuses get allergies due to inhalation of smoke
when sinus develops allergies there is post nasal drip it causes iritation inthroat and cough as it goes in stomach it causes oesophagel reflux again causes itation of throat
get xray pns waters view and get treatment of allergic sinusitis after consultastion with allergic doctor
for time you can start antiallergic fexofenadine 120 mg od
syp codeine +cpm 1 tsf night
add liquid antacid bd
can continue till treatment starts
