Have Piles, Passing Stool More Often, Blood In Stools. Should I Be Concerned?

Hi I do have piles (not normally troublesome apart from itching occasionally and bleeding if I do too much) but lately I have been pooing a lot more often (4-5 times a day rather than the usual 1-2 times). I do get a very small amount of bright red blood from time-to-time but I rather think this may be pile-related. Should I be concerned?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
A change in bowel habits would be of concern if you are more than 50 years old. I would suggest that a colonoscopy ( to rule out colon cancer) is mandated if you are more than 50 years old.
Hope this helps.
