Have Potential Borderline Personality Disorder, Possible Depression. What Can I Do?
Hi, I have become concerned recently with my state of mental health, I am usually just about able to cope with day to day life but I feel that potential boderline personality disorder and possible dpression are holding me back from a lot of things and I can't really go anywhere in life at the moment. I want to visit my GP to possibly get reffered to a mental health professional but I am not sure of the steps involved.
You should consult psychiatrist for detailed evaluation and treatment if required.
Doctor will rule out physical cause of your symptoms like thyroid dysfunction, Vitamin B12 deficiency, or diabetes etc. with the help of blood investigations.
After ruling out, Psychiatrist will direct you to take either anti depressant drugs like sertraline or escitalopram or he may refer to you for psychotherapy sessions.
A lot of symptoms in an individual with Borderline Personality Disorder may mimic symptoms of depression. But patient of depression tend to have pervasive sadness, low energy and poor interest in any activity apart from other somatic symptoms. While patient of BPD show dramatic and attention seeking attitude, he or she may show self injurious behavior and parasuicidal attempts are more common in them. For proper evaluation I would recommend you to please visit a Psychiatrist for opinion. If the symptoms are affecting your social and occupational life then consult your GP and convey your concern to him for proper referral to a Psychiatrist.

Let your GP decide what to do next.
Secondly, for the time being, what you can do is to enjoy life.
