Switching To Implanon From Loestrin 24 Advisable When Suffering From Depression?

I am a 29 year old female who is around 105 lbs. I am currently on loestrin 24 fe as a form of birth control, but am considering switching to implanon. However, I am a little concerned about the side effects because I suffer from severe chronic depression as well as have traits of borderline personality disorder complete with mood instability and impulsiveness. Should I still consider switching?

Hi

Although mood changes have been suggested as side effects of hormonal contraceptives, many studies suggest they are safe to use and should not cause depression in the women who use them.

Implants are a better option than pills since you will not have to remember taking them daily. You can consult your gynaecologist for further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
