Have Red Blotches And Swelling In Ankles And Legs. High Cholesterol. Tried Anti-inflammatory Tablets. Solution?

Hi, I have been suffering from swollen ankles for about 4 months, where my ankles are sore to touch. My leg also swells, so that when I take my socks off I have indents around both legs. I have also noticed I have red blotches on both legs, mainly below the knee.
I have had blood tests recently but have only been asked to go and see the surgery nurse about my cholesterol level, which was higher than norm 6 months ago. Nothing has been said about the other tests that were performed in relation to my legs. I have tried 2 types of anti-inflammatory tablets but neither have had any effect.
I am unsure what to do next. My e-mail address is YYYY@YYYY
Thank you

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
As you stated in your query it is not an inflammation in any way.
Both legs ( ankles) are swollen and red patches and indents.
The symptoms are from the last 4 months ?
May be due to,
Kidney problems,
diabetes,
Hypertension,
Congestive heart failure,
Renal failure ( chronic),
Hypo proteinemia,
Anemia,
Thrombosis ( rarely in both legs)
One and most foremost reason is that 6 months ago your blood cholesterol level was high and that was the cause.
Now consult a PHYSICIAN and get in blood for lipid, C B C, urea, creatinine level .
Physician will decide future course of action.
Hope I have answered your question.
If further any question I will help.
GOOD LUCK.
Dr. HET
