Have severe generalized anxiety disorder and health anxiety. I was prescribed 0.5mg of Xanax & told to take 1/2-1 pill daily as needed. I take 1/2 usually but something a whole pill. It seems like my anxiety is worse the minute I take them and it never gets better even after 60-90 minutes. My heart beats harder, worry hospital failed to diagnose heart issue a week ago when I had ekg's, chest x-rays and blood work. Can Xanax make anxiety worse? It is making me paranoid about taking it. I'm scared to leave my house in fear I will pass out or drop dead of a heart attack. I'm 28, 5'8, and 131lbs. Have had anxiety for 16 years.
