Have Severe Pain Under The Rib Cage. Had CT Done Earlier Which Was Normal. What Could Be The Cause For This Problem?

I have had pain under my right rib cage off and on for about 12 years. It is intermittent and when it "acts up" it is extremely painful. At times I feel a "rolling" like when a baby rolls over. There is a hardening where I have this feeling. The pain is similar to a burning but also reminds me of what a bad side ache feels like after running, only it's under the ribs. Today, the inner edge of the rib cage is so tender. Any ideas? I had a CT for another illness and my gallbladder was normal.

Hi

Thanks for asking.

It can be the Tietz syndrome , which is the inflammation of the costochondral junction and it is usually associated with the tenderness in the respective area as well.

It is a clinical diagnosis and all the tests are normal with this condition.

Thanks.
