HELLO AND WELCOME,

Severe tooth pain and swollen cheek may be due to many reasons-

Deep dental carries progressed into periapical abscess

plaque accumulated causing gingivitis and thereby periodontal abscess

pericoronitis arised from impacted wisdom teeth

Traumatic injury causing periapical infection.

I would suggest you to visit a dentist soon.

Direct clinical examination is mandatory for planning the treatment.

Meanwhile ,antibiotics and analgesics will help to relieve the pain.

hello and welcome ,

Tooth pain and associated cheek swelling clearly indicates infection in the tooth that has spread to the adjoining tissue leading to formation of a Periodontal abscess.

Abscess formation can be seen in relation to the root apex known as periapical abscess or it can spread to the adjacent teeth and jaw bone .

Draining of abscess in the oral cavity leads to nausea , vomiting , halitosis and stomach infection.

you need to consult a dentist as it the abscess needs to be drained ,after X RAY examination the infected tooth can be treated by root canal treatment.

Till you see a dentist , you can start with a course of antibiotic Augmentin with clavulanate and analgesics, which helps in subsiding the swelling and pain.

i hope it helps ,

take care.

Hello,
Thanks for sharing your concern with us
A tooth abscess typically originates from dead pulp tissue, usually caused by untreated tooth decay, cracked teeth or extensive periodontal disease. A failed root canal treatment may also create a similar abscess.
immediately start up with warm saline rinses & betadine rinses, along with antibiotic course including amoxycilline 500mg TDS & ibuprofen 400 mg TDS.
Than visit to your dentist for check iopa x-ray and get the treatment plan according to that
You can contact me again directly through my profile.

dear friend.

thanks for sharing your concern.

i can very well understand your situation but visiting a dentist is necessary for you.your have clear cut signs of infection in your tooth.

an abscessed tooth should be drained as early as possible because it can lead to other space infections too.
meanwhile to reduce your pain and infection you can do this.

1.use chlorhexidine mouth wash after food.

2.rinsing with warm saline water will localise your infection.

3.after that very slowly with the help of your toothbrush try and remove the accumulated food particles and keep it maximum clean.

4.maintain very good oral hygiene .this will help you a lot
.
5.take augumentin 625 mg for three days.also take tab combiflam 500 mg to relieve your pain.

after that you must visit your dentist for initial oral examination and abscess drainage.

thanks

There are following possibilities with the given symptoms-
1.Erupting wisdom tooth.
2.Deep infection in the concerned tooth, resulting in periapical abscess.
3.Periodontal abscess.
4.Cheek bite trauma resulting in to swollen cheek.

so i will suggest you visit your dentist as soon as possible and until you will find out an affordable dentist you can perform following-
1.Warm saline rinses 3-4 times in a day.
2.Betadine gargles 2-3 times a day.
3.Can take amoxilline 500mg 3 times a day and a pain killer to relieve pain.etc....

Nothing to get worried.

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

Pain in the tooth and cheek swelling indicates severe tooth infection and abscess formation . there is spread of infection to the adjoining periodontal tissues leading to periodontal abscess . If not traeted in time it may lead to further spread of infection to the adjacent tissues .

I would advice you to get a complete clinical evaluation done .
Take an x-ray .

At home take saline water gargles 3-4 times a day.
Use 0.2% of chlorhexidine mouthwash gargles twice daily.
Take tab flemiclav625 mg TDS , tab flagyl 400 mg TDS , tab dolonex TDS.

Hope this helps out,

Regards...
